Mini-Church

Mini Church is a programme for 2 - 4 year olds (up to school age) during the Sunday morning service. The programme is designed to be a simple but effective means of exposing children to the Biblical storyline, incorporating singing, prayer, a Bible story and a related activity. It is led each Sunday by parents and other enthusiastic people within the Church.

(Each adult involved holds a blue card or is otherwise legally permitted to work with children).

Children must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian each Sunday.
Children under the age of 2 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the whole programme.
We look forward to seeing you and your children!

Mini Church will be starting Sunday 18th April for children aged between 2 and 4 years of age.  Location will be in the nursery area and you can drop your child/children off when announced during the service.

A cry room and creche are also available at the back of the church auditorium, however all children must be accompanied by an adult.  They are equipped with a P.A. system so you don't have to miss out on the church service.

Prayer

Prayer is THE most important aspect behind everything we do here at CBC.

Prayer meetings are held every Sunday morning in the cry room at the rear of the church auditorium at 0900, and on Tuesdays at 1230.

Corporate prayer times are organised regularly throughout the year where we as a church family can come together and thank God for His goodness to us.

We also have an emergency prayer chain operating so you can be reassured that you have others in the church family praying with you.

Check out the events calendar to see when the next corporate prayer night is...

Men's Breakfasts

Men's Breakfasts occur once a month and are great times for getting to know the other men in our church.  Usually kicking off around 7.30am on a Saturday morning, the menu ranges from bacon and eggs to fruit and toast. A short devotion or thought for the day is shared by someone after we've eaten, and we're usually done by 9.00am.

Check the events calendar for upcoming Men's Breakfasts...

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

We seek to involve women in both practical ways and in helping them discover their Spiritual Gifts and encourage them to use them in the life of the Church.  We offer a range of what interests women – Craft group, catering for functions, coffee nights, Breakfast Club, Girls Night Out (includes Bible Studies, discussions, prayer, craft projects). We also organise morning tea after the service each Sunday.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

A low key Home Group that invites women both in the Church and outside the church to get together to share, do some craft, discuss topical issues or chat over a cuppa.

MENTORING AT CAIRNS WEST STATE SCHOOL

A group of women, mainly from CBC go into the school and spend time with one child each week. We do all sorts of things – scrapbooks, games, stories, craft (and even a ride on a Harley).

Welcome Inn

The Welcome Inn Cafe happens every first Sunday of every month, after the evening service.

Dinner is served for a small donation per plate, with softdrinks, juice and cordial also available.

The churches various homegroups take turns in supplying and cooking dinner each month.

We also have a group of dedicated volunteers that skillfully look after the operation of our coffee cart, affectionately known as 'Mr Coffee'.

And at it's heart the Welcome Inn Cafe is an outreach ministry where we invite anyone and everyone to come along for a meal, a chat and the chance to build relationships.

Street Level Youth Care

Street Level Youth Care

Street Level Youth Care is an outreach program to the homeless and disadvantaged youth of the city of Cairns.  They serve meals to young people up to age 21. These youngsters walk around the streets of a night time as they often have no home to go to.  All meals are donated and the ministry is run completely on the back of volunteers.

Check out their website at http://streetlevelyouthcare.org.au/

Harald's House

Harald's HouseThe founder of Street Level Youth Care, Dr Harald Falge OAM, an elder here at CBC, is now being supported by the local community to establish an accommodation home for young people where they can experience the love of a true family environment, find their feet and hopefully make amends with parents and family so they may once again return home. This will be a home where young people will be required to return to study, work or do vocational training that will equip them to take care of themselves once they leave the facility.

Religious Education

Cairns Baptist Church supports the R.E. (Religious Education) programmes in our State Schools.

Several people from our Church teach R.E. and two are coordinators.

R.E. is the only opportunity for many children to hear of God's love for them and the way of salvation. So it is important that there are sufficient teachers to cover the many classes in the Cairns area.

To be able to teach R.E. each teacher must hold a current Blue card and have a letter of authority from their Church Minister. The material that is used is what is recommended by the Cairns Christian Minister's Network and each teacher must be prepared to attend training seminars when they are held.

R.E. is held every day of the working week at various Schools in our area.

Youth from grades 8-12 connect through their own youth group called Pulse on Friday nights during the school term.

Starting from 6pm ending at 9pm.

Pulse meets off site at the Cairns State High School where the weekly event happens.  Sharing in a meal, and then joining in a time of “ENGAGE” where the emphasis is on discussing current issues and other biblical principles that apply to life and circumstances that young people will experience.
After this time the night continues with other activities like ball games, dinners, movie nights, combined events, hangouts and the like, before sharing in some supper.
